Built in 1926, the house was originally the home of a pioneering grazing family, the Katers, and its charm has been retained in the tasteful decoration. With only 43 rooms, the ambience is still that of a refined country estate. Accommodations are elegantly appointed rooms and suites housed in the main house and adjacent to the garden wing, and self-contained cottages. Elms Cottages are set amongst the elm trees with sweeping views over Mount Broughton Golf Course. Each cottage has 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms with bath & shower, an interconnecting lounge and wide verandahs overlooking the estate. All rooms are non-smoking.

Katers Restaurant features classical international cuisine with Mediterranean and European influences. Executive Chef Jonas Ottosson prepares sumptuous dishes using local produce from the Southern Highlands region. The menu changes regularly to reflect the seasonal availability of local ingredients. Mount Broughton Golf & Country Club is a naturally beautiful site and is reputedly one of the longest courses in Australia. From the championship tees the course has a rating of 76. Sweeping rye grasses and the course’s natural waterways, lush greens and undulating fairways, creates an incredible vista. Abundant wildlife inhabits the course adding to the magnificent atmosphere.
