The Orpheus Island Resort Experience
This exclusive island adult hideaway south of Cairns offers the discerning traveller premium service, fine dining and total seclusion. With a limit of just 42 guests serviced by attentive but unobtrusive staff, Orpheus is a sophisticated first class retreat for the fortunate few. This is further enhanced by the exclusion of telephones, televisions, day-trippers, nightclubs or children under 15 years. Along with its luxury sister property, Freycinet Lodge in Tasmania, the resort has won many awards for environmental and dining excellence. Orpheus is surrounded by an amazing array of tropical fish and coral, white sandy beaches, and provides an Ecology Program to introduce guests to the local flora & fauna.

Accommodation - 17 rooms, 4 suites, Check in - Flexible, Check out - 12 PM
With 17 Retreats and 4 Suites, each beautifully appointed room is located on the beachfront. Accommodation was completely refurbished in 2003, and is surrounded with lush gardens of fragrant tropical plants and Coral Sea views. All feature private patios and large personal spa baths, some with enclosed garden courtyards. Bedding is king or twin singles on request. Disabled are not catered for and will require the assistance of an able bodied person throughout their stay.

Dining
Award-winning dining... and the tariff is fully inclusive of all meals and snacks. Dining at Orpheus is an indulgence - from breakfast, to alfresco lunches in the courtyard, and finally each evening a seven course degustation gourmet dinner. The chef prepares a new menu daily with emphasis being on seafood and exotic delicacies. The restaurant is open air and situated along the beachfront with only the bougainvilleas and palm trees separating it from the sea. Gourmet picnic lunches complete with motorised dinghies are included for guests to discover their own private beach.

Included: Bush walking, 2 swimming pools (one with a swim up bar), Heated spa, Recreation room with TV/VCR/games/snooker, Motorised dinghies, Coral viewing trips aboard a glass bottom boat, Canoes, Catamarans, Gourmet picnic hampers, Paddle skis, Snorkelling equipment & lessons, Snorkelling trail, Light fishing gear, Numerous interpretive activities & tours e.g. Mangrove kayak expedition & Sunrise with the Sea Eagles. Optional extras: Snorkelling- 2½ hr Interpretive Reef Adventure, 1 hr Twilight Pier Experience. Diving- The Scuba PADI program is a basic introduction by Dive Instructors. Outer reef (30km) or local scuba dives to the many convenient dive sites throughout the Palm Island Group onboard their fast dive vessel guided by experienced resort Dive Masters. Fishing- Local & outer reef charters with bottom line, light tackle or heavy tackle aboard a fully equipped vessel with its experienced and qualified crew. Seaplane charters for outer reef & island sightseeing & adventures!

The resort is able to cater for small groups and be booked on a sole basis for 42 guests in 21 rooms. Conferences are welcome at the resort on a sole basis only. The resort is able to accommodate meetings in the open-air quiet lounge area, located just 10 metres from the beach and with views to the ocean. The lounge area dimensions of 8x12 metres will comfortably fit 42 theatre style, 30 classroom style and 18 people in U-shape format.


Getting There
Regular flights are available from all major Australian capital cities to Cairns & Townsville. Daily seaplane flights operate between Townsville Airport and Orpheus Island with travel time approximately 30 mins. Scenic seaplane flights operate on Mondays and Fridays between Cairns Airport and Orpheus Island with travel time approximately 1 hour.

Children
Children under 15 years of age are not catered for and there are no day-trippers to the island.
